MENDO BARAT – The acting chairwoman of Bangka Belitung (Babel) Handicraft Council (Dekranasda) Safriati Safrizal once again visited craft’s house in Bangka Regency on Monday (22/01/2024).

Accompanied by the head of provincial head of the Industry and Trade Office Tarmin AB and Yuniar Putia Rahma from the Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises Office, she visited Lidi Nipah handicraft in Kace village, Mendo Barat district.

She said that vein of marsh palm frond, locally known as Lidi Nipah, was a local potency because Marsh palm grew in many places on Babel.

“We’re here with the head of Disperindag and Cooperative offices. Besides seeing the patent products, we also come to see the possibility of developing the society to produce the Nipah,” she said.

She said further that she encouraged the craftsmen to patent the brand. They could also share their knowledge with other craftsmen from all over Indonesia to make use of the veins.

“Our offices, especially Dekranasda, can support it. First thing first, it must be patented as a typical product of Babel,” She continued.

Eva Deswanti, the craftswoman and owner of Deshanda Craft, said that she would apply for a patent on Lidi Nipah brand.

“I’ve become a trainer at school, penal institution and others. I’ve been also invited to train in Aceh recently, but I rejected it because I don’t have patent yet. I’ll apply for it soon,” she said.

Besides expressing his gratefulness for the visit, she also hoped that the chairwoman of Dekranasda would give advice to encourage the craftswomen in Babel.

“Thanks for the chairwoman and her entourage. We hope to keep being supported and encouraged,” she continued. (Elvianti/SAS)
