Sungailiat – Bangka Belitung’s (Babel) Youth Representative for Environmental Care (Pepelingasih) won the National Cross-country Race 2024 held by Mahacita student activity unit of Babel Manufacturing Polytechnic.
The race to commemorate the International Day of Plant Health was held on Tikus Beach, Sungailiat on Sunday (12/5/2024). The theme was Abiwara Eka Panca, Let’s Implement the Nature Exploration Action.
The 15th race was participated by 89 teams consisted of 49 male teams and 40 female teams. The total was 445 participants.
Orie Fachridho Hermawan, the chairman of Pepelingasih, said in his WhatsApp that it was to encourage the young generation to implement the action.
“It’s to let the young generation know their nature and to conserve it. It’s also to foster unity and togetherness among the nature lovers,” said he.
He said further that there were many positive parts of this race. One of them was to promote Pepelingasih among the people dealing with environmental issues.
“It makes people know more about Pepelingasih, especially in Bangka regency. By participating Pepelingasih will always be active in good programmes, either in the environment or in youth. Besides that, it does also motivate us to join and organize programme based on our capability,” he added.
Therefore, he sent a message to the young generation to be active and participate in the Cross-country Race.
“It’s one of the activities for young generation to know and love each other and to protect our nature. Let’s take part in the race. If not us, who else?” he continued. (Khalimo/SAS)
