Pangkalpinang – Bangka Belitung Youth Representative for Environmental Care (Pepelingasih), Recycling Generation Community, and supported by Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports Office commemorated Indonesia’s National Waste Awareness Day (HPSN). This year theme was “waste management, emission reduction, and climate village program”.
OrieFachridhoHermawan as coordinator of program said HSPN 2022 could be a platform to support and strengthen waste management activity. Therefore, he hoped this small activity would reduce climate change impact.
“Hundreds of participants join this collaboration program. Started from acknowledging HSPN movement in Bangka Belitung Islands, then we hold seminar on environmental education, and gather to collectand sortwaste.” said Orie.
The participants managed to collect around 386 kilograms trash on the area. They started from under Golden Bridge to Koala beach area. The area was deliberately chosen for the purpose of tourism promotion.
Orie hoped community would be more aware of climate change and environmental care. Therefore, they would encourage nearest neighbour.
On the same occasion, Bangka BelitungGovernor Special Staff on Environment and Development Elli GustinaRebuin said this activity (Indonesia’s National Waste Awareness Day commemoration) done by environmental activists and volunteers would be beneficial for Bangka Belitung Province.
“I hope this program can promote tourism, especially Koala beach which was located under Golden Bridge. Then, small and medium enterprises there can develop as well. Besides that, this campaign urges visitor to keep the area clean.” said Elli.
Before closing the event, the participants signed commitment to keep the environment clean. (Translated by ZE)
