SUNGAILIAT, BABEL NEWS – Paul Gauguin Cruise resumed in Parai Beach, Sungailiat, Bangka with about 240 tourists from 14 countries on Thursday (3/4/2025).
It anchored about 2 miles from the beach. The tourists landed on the beach on a kind of LCT boat.
Related agencies such as immigration, customs and excise, and harbour masters checked tourists’ papers before they entered Parai Beach Resort and Spa.
They were welcomed by the resort’s management with flower wreaths and Sekapur Sirih dance. Various local dishes and young coconut ice were also served on the tables.
Most of them instantly swum and went snorkelling.
“This is the first resume after the last 2015. Therefore, we welcome them,” said Johnnie Sugiarto, the owner of El John Group who also owned the resort.
The tourists travel around the world on Paul Gauguin Cruise. It also visits some other destinations besides the resort.
“Parai is the first attraction before other areas in Indonesia,” added Johnnie.
He said further that he would continuously invite cruises to support tourism in Bangka Regency in particular and Bangka Belitung province in general. There would be four cruises every year.
Besides him, the tourists were also welcomed by the Police Chief of Bangka Regency AKBP Deddy Dwitiya Putra, The assistant for the regional secretariat of Bangka Regency to represent the regent, officers of the Tourism office of the regency and the province.
Boy Yandra fully supported the resort because it was very important for tourism. It would introduce the beauty of the regency to the world.
“Hopefully it will mark the rise of tourism in Bangka,” said Boy Yandra.
“Parai is so beautiful,” said Sandra, one of the tourists.
However, she just smiled when she was asked whether she would come back again or not.
