On behalf of Bangka Belitung Governor, Widya Kemala Sari Head of Provincial Tourism, Culture, Youths, and Sports Office, officially closed the Regional Student Championship (Kejurda) 2023. The event was held at Sahabudin Sports Centre, Pangkalpinang on Friday (July 14, 2023).
In her closing remarks, she expressed that sports coaching and development are carried out systematically through stages of introduction, monitoring, guidance, continuous talent development, and performance improvement.
"The coaching and development of sports, as mentioned, aim to build character, provide fundamental knowledge in sports, improve fitness and health levels, and foster healthy and active lifestyle habits," she said.
Furthermore, the coaching and development of sports in education should be carried out and directed as a cohesive and continuous unit within the national education system.
"The coaching and development of sports in education are conducted by considering the overall potential, abilities, interests, and talents of the students, both through intra-curricular and extra-curricular activities," she said.
She hoped that the winners will continue to hone their skills through continuous practice and hard work, and for those who haven't succeeded, she encouraged them not to give up, stay motivated, and keep practicing.
"For the athletes who have been selected to represent Babel in the upcoming POPNAS, I ask you to make an utmost preparation so that you can perform well and succeed on the national level," she added.
Based on the results, 135 athletes and coaches have been chosen to represent Babel in the South Sumatera POPNAS XVI next August.
Pangkalpinang Team emerged as Grand Champion in The Regional Student Championship 2023 with 39 gold, 16 silver, and 23 bronze medals. While, East Belitung and Central Bangka Regencies secured the second and third position respectively.
Top 3 in Regional Student Championship 2023 will receive trophy and money. Pangkalpinang Contingent will receive 40 million rupiahs, East Belitung team will collect 25 million rupiahs, and Central Bangka team will get 15 million rupiahs.
The following is the final tally of Babel Student Regional Championship medals. Pangkalpinang collected 39 gold, 16 silver, and 23 bronze medals. East Belitung bagged 28 gold, 23 silver, and 33 bronze medals. Central Bangka mustered 16 gold, 23 silver, and 22 bronze medals. Belitung got 14 gold, 21 silver, and 21 bronze medals. Last but not least, West Bangka gathered 13 gold, 14 silver, and 14 bronze medals. (RZ/DG/ZE)
