Pangkalpinang – Provincial government of Kepulauan Bangka Belitung (Babel) through its Sports Development Board (BAPOR) of the Indonesia Civil Servants Corps (Korpri) in cooperation with the National Sports Committee (KONI) succeeded in organizing Babel Run 2022 on Monday (14/08/2022).
1,845 runners competed in five categories: 10 K for men and women under 35 and over 36 years old, 10 K for elites/athletes, 10 K for soldiers and policemen, and 5 K for elementary school students.
10 k race started in front of Bhayangkara hospital and 5 k race started in front of horse statue at the Green Land Residence run well. All runners finished the race at Emas Bridge.
Regional Secretary of Babel, Naziarto said that it was an amazing race. It was worth being a provincial annual event.
“It was not only to find talented athletes but it was an event to build ties of friendship and togetherness. It’s an expression of our wish to make a healthy Indonesia after the Covid-19 pandemic,” said Naziarto after putting medals around the necks of the winners.
“We start healthy Indonesia campaign from Babel. People are very enthusiastic and it will affect their health. They’re also happy. Doing exercise will make them mentally and physically healthy,” he added.
The acting head of the Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports office, Herwanita, agreed with Naziarto. It surely was an event to find Babel’s talented athletes.
“Hopefully we can organize a bigger event in the future by inviting national and international athletes to support our sport tourism,” she expected.
Besides Naziarto, several provincial high figures also attended the event such as Assistant for General Administration Yunan Helmi, Assistant for Economy Yanuar, member of Regional Leadership Communication Forum, chairman of provincial KONI Ricky Kurniawan, officers from Pangkalpinang city, and others.
