Pangkalpinang – Kepulauan Bangka Belitung province (Babel) is renowned for one of the best local durian producers. Durian lovers in Indonesia have acknowledged its delicacy.
Among its well-known durians are Cumasi or Namlung and Super Tembaga. This potential can be promoted as a culinary attraction to attract more visitors to Babel.
The destination and marketing division of the provincial Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports office (Disparbudkepora) of Babel worked with selebgram Nabilla Gargena to promote the fruit.
Supported by the provincial Communication and Informatics office (Diskominfo), the video shooting was in Langsat Garden, Jakarta Selatan. It focused on the review of the taste, distinctive aroma, and texture of the durians.
Sub-coordinator of tourism marketing of Disparbudkepora Anugrah Gusta Prima hoped this marketing promotion and strategy program ran smoothly and achieved a positive result.
“I hope travel industries and public will know more about Babel. Then, it gives positive effect to Babel’s economic and sociocultural sectors,” he said via WhatsApp on Monday (06/02/2023).
He also informed that it was based on the acting governor’s instruction to maximize the culinary potential of Babel. It would be published in Disparbudkepora and Diskominfo’s social media channels.
Meanwhile, the durian’s taste amazed Nabila Gardena. She thought it was delicious and sweet.
“Delicious. It’s different from other durians I’ve ever eaten, especially Super Tembaga,” she said enthusiastically.
For information, the nationally favoured Durian, Super Tembaga, is the most expensive. The prices per kilo start from Rp1.500.000 to Rp1.800.000. It has thick orange flesh, small seed, and sweet taste.
Another durian is Cumasi or Namlung. The price is between Rp500.000 to Rp800.000 per kilo. It has thick yellow flesh, small seed and bittersweet taste. (rz/translated by S. Ahmad Sobri/ edited by ZE)
