Pangkalpinang – Bangka Belitung Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Sports Office (Disparbudkepora Babel) held Babel Bangka Belitung Youth Representative for Environmental Care (Pepelingasih) Selection 2023. This program followed by 14 participants from all Bangka Belitung Province takes place on Agustus 28-31, 2023 at Grand Puncak Lestari Hotel.
The head of Youth and Scouting Division Pairus, on behalf of Head of Bangka Belitung Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Sports Office in his opening remarks said this program will help the participants to learn how to identify issues, design measures of protection, and educate society on environment-related issue.
“Through this program, we learn the importance of keeping the air and water cleaned, and the measure to protect the environment in Bangka Belitung,” said Pairus.
He added that pollution and environmental degradation have risked water resources in some areas. The same thing happened to air quality. Pollution at a certain level can harm human health.
“We know some areas in Indonesia have bad air quality according to online media. It can lead to health problems. Meanwhile, the air quality in Bangka Belitung is considered good. That’s why we need to learn how to protect our environment,” he concluded. (KTE/ZE)
