Pangkalpinang – The G20 or Group of Twenty is a forum of 19 countries and the European Union (EU) to address major issues related to the global economy.
Belitung has been chosen as one of the venues for the G20 meeting on September 7-9, 2022. It was such an achievement for a relatively new province.
On Bangka Pos’ Dialog Ruang Tengah program, Head of Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Sports office Suharto, Monday (07/02) discussed Bangka Belitung tourism promotion ahead of G20 Belitung.
“It was such an honour to hold an international event like G20. Belitung will be recognized globally, and we should be proud of,” said Suharto.
The provincial government will collaborate with the central government to hold the event smoothly. “It is our responsibility to make the event succeed,” added Suharto.
To promote Belitung tourism, Suharto focused on Belitung UNESCO Global Geo-park. “Ahead of G20, the preparation has been made, such as to check and to ease the access to the Geo-sites.” explained Suharto.
Suharto believed that the delegation of G20 countries will take the time to enjoy Bangka Belitung province. Therefore, he asked all regions to gear up to welcome the delegation and to promote local potential.
“I am sure, after holding the meeting the delegation will see what Bangka Belitung has to offer. The province has abundant potentials, yet it has not been optimized. Not only mining, but there are many sectors to invest in. I hope each region prepares to take this chance.” he concluded. (ZE/SAS)
