Pangkalpinang – Bangka Belitung (Babel) is one of young province with national level achievement. Some international tourism and sport events had been organized in the province.
In spite of facing his retirement, Head of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports office Suharto kept trying to contribute his idea in developing tourism and sport. He said that a big move must be taken in order to be a developed province.
“Dare is the key to develop and step into world level. Considering that Indonesia will host 2032 Olympic Games, preparation must be started as soon as possible by taking part in international event,” he said in his working room on Friday (11/02/2022).
One of the preparations is by building world standard sports facilities. He believes that Bangka Belitung can be a proper location for the event.
“Bangka Belitung is very strategic area. It’s only 55 minutes away from Jakarta. It’s also safe because it has no volcano and other natural disasters,” he said.
He said further that it would be a great lost if Babel did not prepare it from this present and considered what kind of facilities which were able to be built for the Games.
“We need to start to think what sports are possibly competed in Babel including the facilities. We’ve prepared 38 ha for it,” he continued.
If Babel has already had world class facilities, the world will come without hesitation and foreign tourists will also automatically come. (KTE/SAS/ZE)
