Pangkalpinang – The provincial office of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports of Kepulauan Bangka Belitung (Babel) hosted the Museum Quiz Contest for junior high school on 11th June 2024. 12 students from 3 regencies and 1 city of all-Babel participated in the quiz.
The office’s head Wydia Kemala Sari officially opened the quiz. She said that it was an annual event of the Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Ministry since 2015 to sharpen students’ knowledge about museums and Indonesia’s history and culture.
“Museum is not only to preserve, develop, and keep the collections, but it is also to communicate them to the people,” said Wydia in her remarks in the office on Tuesday (11/06).
She said further that the participants could be cultural agents to inform the essence of the culture in their own ways.
“The quiz can sharpen youths’ critical thinking on cultural topics,” she added.
She hoped the participants could take part in the development in the future. “I hope we can narrate the cultural richness not only for this era but also for the future,” she expected.
The head of the Culture division Agus Setio Rini, Sub-coordinator of Culture Preservation and Museum Taufik Hidayat, judges, and teachers attended the opening.
The first winner of the quiz will represent the province at the national level on 25th – 31st 2024. (Reza/SAS)
