PANGKALPINANG, Actadiurman.id – The provincial Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports office (Disparbudkepora) of Kepulauan Bangka Belitung encourages the tourism sector by drawing up an interpretation of the Provincial Tourism Strategic Area (KSPP) on Pangkalpinang, Mendo Barat, Bangka Tengah and its surroundings on 5th – 9th May 2025. It is an important part of building quality-based tourist destinations.

Various tourism stakeholders participate in it such as guides, travel agents, museum managers, attraction operators, and education and tourism experts. They will discuss, collect data, and collaboratively draw up the interpretation.

The head of Disparbudkepora Wydia Kemala Sari explained that it was an important part of building integrated tourism based on the Provincial Tourism Development Master Plan (RIPPARPROV) and other development plans.

“We’re in the final stage of regional planning. The purpose is to have tourism interpretative products to be offered to the tourists,” said Widya in her remarks.

She stressed the importance of interpretation as a communication strategy to explain about uniqueness and values of a destination. It was not only a promotion tool but it also connected tourism experience and local wisdom.

“We want them not only to enjoy the beauty and entertainment but also to give them pleasure and memorable experiences. Hopefully, it’ll create an emotional relationship to make them revisit the destination and spread impressive stories about us,” she added.

This programme will be an important event for finding information from reliable sources. The information will be developed to draw up comprehensive justifiable interpretations.

According to Widya, tourism development in the province was facing a big after-pandemic challenge, especially with the tourist orientation change. Tourists tended to look for authentic, educative, and meaningful experiences. Therefore, there must be adaptive steps through a qualified tourism approach.

“Qualified tourism is a strategic choice in destination management and product development to increase visit number, length of stay, and economic effect to the society,” she said.

This programme states the commitment of the provincial government to build inclusive, educative, sustainable, and competitive tourism industries. It also strengthens tourism competitiveness at the national and international levels and increases public welfare.
