Pangkalpinang – All state apparatus (ASN) and contract employees in the provincial Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports office (Disparbudkepora) of Kepulauan Bangka Belitung (Babel) worked together to clean up the environment on Friday morning, 1st August 2025.

It was to follow up on the governor’s circular letter on the Clean Friday Movement to create conducive and healthy working areas. The activity was started by a morning briefing in the yard of Sahabudin sports center, led by the head of Disparbudkepora, Widya Kemala Sari.

Widya emphasized the importance of clean habits as a part of ASN work ethic. “Gotong Royong (mutual cooperation) is not only cleaning something, it is actually reflecting our commitment in taking care of the environment and also to strengthen our solidarity,” said her.

The sports hall was chosen to be cleaned up because it is a public facility. It belongs to the people, the same as the office, the park, and the sports area.

She said further that keeping the environment clean is not only about an aesthetic thing, but it is about comfort, health, and social responsibility.

“Imagine. If everybody has the same responsibility, our working area and public space will be comfortable. Visitors will feel at home. It surely gives a positive image of the province,” she added.

After the briefing, all employees started to clean up the decided areas using brooms made of veins of palm frond, dustpans, and trash bins.

This is a part of the support for sustainable tourism development in Babel. Environmental cleanliness is one of the main indicators to create a comfortable and interesting destination.

The spirit of gotong royong must be kept alive. The office not only shows its commitment to develop tourism and culture, but it also concerns with building a good character of the state apparatus that care for nature and the people. (khalimo/sas)
