Batam – Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports Office of  the provincial government of Kepulauan Bangka Belitung (Babel) and Babel’s tourism associaciaon had a sales mission on 13rd – 14th February in Batam, Kepuluan Riau.

It was a collaborative marketing (cost sharing) between the government and tourism industries of Babel to encourage the tourism sector and to keep the existence of the province as the top-of-mind destination for domestic and foreign tourists.

Batam is considered one of the strategic places to promote and sell tourism packages. It is an entrance for tourists from various countries.

Moreover, there is a direct flight of Super Air Jet from Batam to Pangkalpiang and Jeju Air, South Korea, to Batam. In May, there will also be a direct flight of Korean Airlines from South Korea to Batam. It will increase foreign visits chance to Babel.

The government presented the latest tourism information including policies, attractions, packages, and Tanjung Kelayang Special Economic Zone (KEK).

Many questions were enthusiastically asked about Babel. They hoped there would be a further programme to invite Batam’s travel agents to experience and test the tourism packages in Babel. They wanted to participate in a familiarization trip to know the tourist destinations.

The participants were the provincial government of Kepulauan Riau, Batam municipality, hospitality industries, airlines, travel agents/tour operators having Singapura, Malaysia, South Korea, and China as their markets, and MICE (Meeting, Incentive, Convention, and Exhibition). (GP/SAS)
