Pangkalpinang – Sports Development Board (BAPOR) of the Indonesia Civil Servants Corps (Korpri) and the National Sports Committee (KONI) will organize Babel Run 2022 to commemorate the 77th of Indonesian Independence Day.
1,367 runners have been registered, and about 200 of them have not taken their registration number yet.
Further, more than 200 runners registered today and it will keep rising. “It’ll exceed our target of 1,700 runners,” said the head of sports division of the provincial Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports office, Harun, who is also the head of the event organizing committee in a consolidation meeting in Sahabuddin Sports Centre on Wednesday, 10/08/2022).
Babel Run 2022 will be held on 14th August 2022. There will be several categories: 10 K for men and women under 35 and over 36 years old, 10 K for elites/athletes, 10 K for soldiers and policemen, and 5 K for elementary and junior high school students. The prize is some amount of money.
Harun said that the event was instructed by the acting governor and provincial secretary of Babel to increase the sport development index in the province, especially in public participation in exercise.
“With limited time given, we manage to organize the event. It’s a common thing for our team. I hope it’ll run well,” said Harun.
He added that the public was very enthusiastic about Babel Run 2022. It was because there were no such event during the pandemic.
The meeting discussed the preparation including job description of route controller or jury, water point officer, security, and medical officer. (RZ/ SAS/ZE)
