Manggar – The regent of Belitung Timur, Muten, accompanied by the vice regent, Khairil Anwar, and the head of the provincial Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports Office (Disparbudkeopra) of Kepulauan Bangka Belitung (Babel), officially closed the regional Student Championship of Babel 2025 in Manggar sports centre on Sunday, 22/6/2025.

The ceremony was also attended by members of the Regional Leaders Communications Forum (Forkompimda) of Babel, the acting head of the provincial Public Works office, Alfian, the head of the Sports Division of Disparbudkepora, Harun, the head of the Sports office of all-Babel, and all athletes, coaches, and officials.

The regent appreciated the hard work of the organizing committee, referees, coaches, and all people who supported the championship. He also congratulated the champion who had given their best on the field.

“Congratulations to the champions. For those who lost the game, don’t let it get you down. It’s an experience to be the next champions,” he said.

He also expressed his gratitude to all contingents for maintaining order during the stay in Belitung Timur

“I hope the experience can give a good impression. As a host, I express my apology if we lack in service in organizing the event,” he said.

The head of Disparbudkepora, Wydia Kemala Sari, who was also the chairman of the organizing committee, said that the winners and talented chosen athletes would fight in POPNAS (National Students Championship) in the next November in Jakarta.

She also expressed his gratitude to all who had supported the championship, especially the regional government of Belitung Timur regency as the host.

“On behalf of the committee, I express my apology because the event is not perfect. It would be an input to improve the future event,” she said.

The first winner was contingent from Pangkalpinang with 34 gold, 22 silver, and 27 bronzes medals, followed by Belitung Timur in the second place with 29 gold, 33 silver, and 27 bronzes medals, and Belitung regency in the third place with 21 gold, 17 silver, and 25 bronze medal.(rz/sas)
