PANGKALPINANG — The Provincial Government of Kepulauan Bangka Belitung is once again facilitating Intellectual Property (IP) registration for business owners.
Opened by the Head of the Provincial Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Sports Office (Disparbudkepora) Eko Kurniawan, it took place at Sun Hotel Pangkalpinang on Thursday (9/10/2026).
In his speech, following the Governor's direction, Hidayat Arsani, Eko said that intellectual property is an important part of developing the creative economy and community businesses. Every idea, work, product, brand, and innovation created has economic value, so it needs to get official protection.
"A brand is not just a name or product identity. A brand is part of a business's image and value. The same goes for copyright, which provides protection for the creativity and intellect of creators," he said.
Eko said this facilitation has been running since 2024. The provincial government covers registration fees of Rp500,000 for 80 brands and Rp200,000 for 50 copyrights.
According to him, it was a form of ongoing government support so that more entrepreneurs and creators became aware of protecting their works as well as their business identity.
This facilitation involves the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law as the facilitator team. The collaboration is expected to provide information, guidance, and the right support for the community in protecting intellectual property.
Eko hoped that more local intellectual property got registered so it could boost Babel's creative economy, increase the value and competitiveness of local works, and open up bigger market opportunities.
The activity then continued with the process of facilitating IP registration for the participants. On the first day, the service focused on trademark registration, while copyright registration was carried out on the second day, September 11, 2026.
