Pelangas – The Jerieng Durian Festival, combined with a Durian Contest in Pelangas Village, Bangka Barat Regency, on Thursday (7/9/2026), is a part of the Fast Best Results Program (PHTC) of 20 Tourism Villages in Kepulauan Bangka Belitung Islands Province (Babel), It is expected to strengthen tourism potential based on local wisdom while also promoting Babel's unique durians to a wider audience.

Pelangas Village, known for its kelekak area, produces a variety of local durians with unique flavors. Through the contest, various superior varieties are introduced to the community as an effort to both discover and preserve the high economic value fruit.

The Head of the provincial Tourism, Culture, Youth, and Sports Office, Wydia Kemala Sari, said that the Festival was not only features a durian contest but is also combined with the durian nganggung or communal dining as a tourist attraction.

"We packaged this festival by highlighting local cultural potential through the durian nganggung tradition. Hopefully, this activity can develop into a tourism agenda that can attract visitors to Bangka Belitung," said Wydia.
