Pangkalpinang – The working committee for the tourism village standardization of Commission VII of the Indonesian House of Representatives conducted a working visit to Kepulauan Bangka Belitung (Babel) on Monday, 8/9/2025. Led by the vice chairwoman of the commission, Rahayu Saraswati, they were welcomed by the governor Hidayat Arsani in the Pasir Padi room. Previously, they were also welcomed by the acting provincial secretary, Fery Aprianto.
Hidayat Arsani stated his commitment to strengthening the tourism village as one of the strategies to develop the regional tourism sector.
Furthermore, he said that tourism village cannot only rely on the beach but also on its uniqueness. “The example is Namang village, which has already received an award,” said Hidayat, who was accompanied by the head of the Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports Office, Wydia Kemala Sari.
He also said that with the synergy between central and regional government, he was optimistic that the villages would become one of the main pillars in developing sustainable tourism.
Meanwhile, Rahayu, who is also the chairman of the committee, said about the important role of the regional government in supporting the village through infrastructure and accessibility.
“We want to know about the challenges in the tourism village. Infrastructure is very important so tourists can easily visit the villages. It can attract both local and international tourists,” said Rahayu.
She said further that the commission would soon propose a revision of Tourism Law by dividing the village into four levels: pioneering, developing, advanced, and independent tourism village.
Some officials from the Ministry of Tourism accompanied the commission’s members on the visit. They were Deputy for Destination development and Infrastructure, Hariyanto, the secretary of the Deputy for Resources and Institution, Titik Lestary, and the assistant Deputy for the Development of Tourism Amenities and Accessibility of Region I, Bambang Cahyo Murdoko.
After having a meeting, they continued to have lunch while enjoying Pasir Padi Beach in Pangkalpinang.
After that, they visited Batu Belubang tourism village in Pangkalan Baru district, Bangka Tengah regency. They were welcomed by a traditional welcome dance from the local art studio. Guided by the operator of the village, Ismail, they conducted an inspection and gathered information, including from the head of the village. (irwanto/sas)
