Pangkalpinang – Film Censorship Board (LSF) and provincial Tourism, Culture, Youth and Sports office (Disparbudkepora) of Kepulauan Bangka Belitung (Babel) hold dissemination on the national movement of self-censorship culture in Swiss Bell Hotel Pangkalpinang on Wednesday (02/10/2024). The theme of the dissemination was improving watching culture based on age.
The dissemination was officially opened by the vice chairman of LSF Noorca M Massardi. It was also attended by the secretary of Disparbudkepora Herwanita, the head of the culture division Agus Setio Rini and sub-coordinator of culture and traditional arts Pupung P. Damayanti.
Herwanita in her remarks said that film censorship was an instruction from Law No. 33/2009 on Film. Every film which is distributed must have an approval from LSF.
“The policy to filter and evaluate the content of the film before being distributed is to protect and bring about people’s right to have a qualified film,” said Herwanita.
She said further that film could bring negative effects. It must be watched according to age. Films for adults would not be appropriate for children.
“The content of pornography, violence, gambling, and harassment of religion and humanity will surely have negative effects. Therefore, it needs to be censored,” she added.
She also said that the movement had been disseminated by LSF since 2021. The aim was to strengthen people’s literacy to wisely choose the film based on age.
“Watching film based on age is fun. Interesting, romantic, thrilling, and funny story is entertaining,” she added.
The speakers in the dissemination were the chairman of Self-censorship Village and Community LSF Hairus Salim and the culture-bearer of Babel Yan Megawandi. It was attended by officers in some government agencies, custom leaders, culture-bearers, film-makers, lecturers, students, teachers, members of women’s organizations, youths, cultural ambassadors, and journalists.
