PANGKALPINANG – The Kite Festival on Pasir Padi Beach successfully enlivened the commemoration of the 24th year of Bangka Belitung (Babel) Province.
“Welcome to the festival,” said the acting governor Sugito in his remarks to open Babel’s Kite, Creative Economy, and Goodwill Cultural Festival 2024.
He was optimistic about this kind of programme. It could promote Babel’s tourism because the province was known for its various cultures and natural beauty.
The Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) market, Colour Run, Talent Show, and painting contest were parts of the festival held on 2nd – 3rd November.
“This is one of our efforts to encourage creativity and develop tourism,” he continued.
He said further that creativity had a big influence on destination development.
“We’re rich in culture, culinary, and art. We have to combine them into valuable products to increase public income through UMKM. It’s to overcome difficult economic situations, poverty, and providing job opportunities,” he added.
Sugito hoped that all parties could keep developing this kind of event and include it in the calendar of events.
He also greeted the team leader of DKI Jakarta Culture Office, members of the Provincial Leaders Communication Forum (Forkopimda), the acting mayor of Pangkalpinang Budi Utama and his Forkopimda.
“Thanks to DKI Jakarta. I hope it won’t be the first and the last. But, it will keep continuing as the support for the province,” he appreciated.
He also informed the people that the peak commemoration event would be the reception night on 30th November in Belitung Timur Regency.
“I hope we can spur our spirit to build the province.” He closed the remarks with a greeting to enjoy the natural beauty and festival till afternoon. (Nona/SAS)
