International Travel Agents Explore Belitung

TANJUNGPANDAN – Belitung Tourism Development Regional Unit (UPTD) of Kepulauan Bangka Belitung province invited travel agents from 5 countries to Belitung to join the Belitung Discovery Familiarization Trip on Sunday, 27th October 2024.

The head of UPTD Apri Yuliansyah said that it aimed to introduce and develop Belitung tourist destination as a community-based tourism. It was a part of people empowerment and human resources training programme.

The 20 participants were from Dutch, Australia, Singapore, Thailand, and Indonesia, including national and international journalists. They visited some tourist attractions from 27th to 29th of October 2024.

On the first day, they were welcomed by traditional performances in Belitung traditional house. Then, they had a painting on ceramic activity in BICA and observed white leaf monkey on Kubing hill, in Perpat tourist village.

For the next two days, they would have an island-hopping starting from Tanjung Tinggi beach besides visiting Peramun Hill and Leebong Island. They would also have a meeting with Belitung’s travel agents, operators, and hotel management.

Apri hoped that it would increase tourism visit, especially international tourist and accelerate economic recovery in tourism sector.

One of the participants from Bali I Ketut Jaman said that it was important to know the attractions.

“It’s very important to know the attractions. Therefore, I and others were thankful for the programme,” he said.

According to him, either domestic or foreign tourists tended to visit new destinations they had not visited before. Therefore, it was a big chance.
